Landscape contractor Roger Cook invites host Kevin O'Connor to the United States Botanic Garden, located at the foot of the Capitol, showcasing an impressive collection of 4,000 living species and 26,000 plant varieties. Meanwhile, at the project house, garden designer Kevin Cordt and his team are installing steel edging, pea gravel, and new plants for the backyard garden. Inside, general contractor Mahyar Mahvi demonstrates to master carpenter Norm Abram how he has sealed the exposed brick and initiated the tiling on the second floor. Custom stair manufacturer Jeff Glass and his crew create a laminated railing for a stylish curved staircase. Interior designer Kate Dieterich presents Norm with a homeowner-friendly linoleum flooring for the kitchen that features cork backing and a click-together design. In Anacostia, Kevin meets park ranger Eola Dance to explore restoration efforts at the Frederick Douglass National Historic Site.
