S28E12 East Boston | Roofing, Shower Pan, Surge Suppression
Episode Overview
The aging slate roof, now ninety years old, is beyond repair, prompting roofing contractor Sean Green and his team to remove it and install new asphalt roofing correctly. General contractor Tom Silva demonstrates to host Kevin O'Connor how his team is efficiently hanging 5/8 fire-rated wallboard on the ceiling using a specialized wallboard hanger. In the second-floor bathroom, plumbing and heating expert Richard Trethewey sets up a custom copper shower pan and drain. Meanwhile, master electrician Allen Gallant introduces homeowner Chris Flynn to the newly installed service panels and an external whole-house surge suppression system designed to shield appliances from power surges and lightning. Kevin assists Tom and Richard in maneuvering a cast iron tub into homeowner Liz Bagley's first-floor bathroom.
