S28E25 Austin; Green is Good
Episode Overview
In the midst of a severe ice storm in Texas, the renovation at the project house presses on. Builder Bill Moore demonstrates to master carpenter Norm Abram how he's repurposing old roof rafters to create the railing system and stair tread nosings. In the kitchen, homeowner Michele Grieshaber has chosen six vibrant paint colors, and paint expert Mike Branch discusses the benefits of the low-VOC paint, which is safer for both homeowners and workers. Outside, plumbing and heating specialist Richard Trethewey assists in positioning a 1200-gallon tank, while rainwater harvester Blake West explains the system for collecting rainwater from the metal roof for irrigation. Richard travels to West Texas to explore renewable energy through wind harvesting. Meanwhile, tile contractors Robbie and Bryan Hawkins install eco-friendly handmade tiles made from 50% recycled materials in the master bathroom.
