This Old House (1979)
S30E11 Weston; Making A Mark
Episode Overview
In Weston, host Kevin O'Connor observes solar energy expert Jeff Wolfe installing eighteen solar panels, capable of supplying up to 75% of the home's energy requirements. Meanwhile, in Alstead, New Hampshire, builder Tedd Benson introduces Kevin to a simple prefabricated Habitat for Humanity home that was put together by 450 volunteers in just eight days. Back at the Weston site, general contractor Tom Silva is busy adding red distressed vertical boards to the second-floor hallway. At the Bensonwood workshop, master carpenter Norm Abram teams up with timberframer CJ Brehio to carve “2008” in Roman numerals into a reclaimed Douglas fir timber for the first floor. Tom also reveals the new custom half-round copper gutters and decorative brackets being installed on the home's street-facing side.
