In a Brooklyn project house, master carpenter Norm Abram discovers local wood refinisher John Thomas's innovative faux painting technique, which transforms worn woodwork into stunning finishes. As the custom kitchen is installed in the owner's unit, design correspondent Carole Freehauf visits Ian Gibbs at his SoHo showroom to explore window treatment options and witness the custom shades being crafted in his Queens workshop. Meanwhile, tile contractor Mauro Zanutto sets up a mud bed for the garden level floor tiles, while upstairs in the master bath, he meticulously lays out a mosaic floor. The kitchen's finished countertops also arrive for installation in the garden level apartment.
