This Old House (1979)
S32E08 Auburndale; Shingles, Ductwork, Lights, and a Pocket Door
Episode Overview
As renovations progress in Auburndale, master carpenter Norm Abram assists general contractor Tom Silva with patching sidewall shingles on the house’s facade. Meanwhile, in the basement, host Kevin O'Connor discovers plumbing and heating expert Richard Trethewey fitting the ductwork for a new hydronic heating and cooling system, noted for its adaptable duct sizes, which are installed in the ceiling above the family room to serve the sunroom. In the kitchen, Kevin observes master electrician Allen Gallant wrapping up the rough electrical work and introducing innovative 4-inch dimmable LED recessed lights that boast a lifespan 50 times greater than traditional incandescent bulbs. Back in the hall mudroom, Norm and Tom implement a change order by installing a pocket door kit sourced from a local lumberyard while completing the rough framing.
