Ray played football at Baylor University from 1984 to 1988 before entering the NFL draft in 1989. He earned two Super Bowl rings in 1998 and 1999 as a key player for the Denver Broncos. Over his fourteen-year career, he also played for the Detroit Lions and Kansas City Chiefs. Now, Ray lives with his wife April and their three children: 20-year-old Joi, 13-year-old Ray Junior, and 7-year-old Darryl. He works as a real estate developer while coaching Ray Junior’s football team. In 1991, Ray witnessed a tragic moment on the field when his teammate Mike Utley became paralyzed from the chest down, an experience that deeply impacted him and inspired his participation in 30 Days. During this program, Ray will navigate life in a wheelchair, relying on his mental strength to keep his legs still. His home and car will be modified to suit his new needs.
