Episode Overview
Kati holds the belief that children thrive best when raised by a mother and father rather than same-sex couples. As the adoptive mother of two boys and an adopted child herself, she feels qualified to speak on what makes for a nurturing environment for successful adoptions. For 30 days, Kati will stay in Ypsilanti, Michigan, with partners Dennis and Thomas Patrick and their four adopted sons: Josh, 11; Paul, 8; Joey, 8; and Raul, 6. Together for a decade, Thomas legally adopted the Patrick surname in 2001. Kati will join the family for church, help with morning routines, and openly share her thoughts on parenting and gay adoption while observing their dynamic. Additionally, Kati will volunteer and head to the state capitol with the Coalition for Adoption Rights Equality (CARE), advocating for legislation that supports dual-parenting rights for same-gender couples.
