Episode Overview

After Pia discovered that her friend was murdered by a man with schizophrenia armed with a gun in 1996, she became a passionate advocate for gun control, fighting for stricter regulations in the U.S. She believes that eliminating gun violence requires a ban on gun sales to anyone except law enforcement and military personnel. For 30 days, Pia will immerse herself in the gun culture of Leesburg, Ohio, living with gun enthusiast Ken Ekermeyer, 39, and his 15-year-old son, Zach. Ken, a dedicated gun collector, always carries his firearm, viewing it as a constitutional right under the Second Amendment. As Pia navigates the Ekermeyers' beliefs and their somewhat insular lifestyle, she will work at a local gun shop, experience carrying a gun herself, learn to handle firearms, and introduce Ken to fellow activists who have suffered losses due to gun violence.
