30 Days (2005)
S03E06 Life On An Indian Reservation
Episode Overview
Morgan Spurlock returns for his second episode this season, diving into the lives of Native Americans, one of America's most indigenous populations. Traveling to Navajo Nation near Window Rock, New Mexico, he comes to terms with his limited understanding of the challenges this tribal community faces. For 30 days, Morgan will stay with the Dennison family: Deborah, a PhD and superintendent of Ganado School District; Karl, a physical education teacher and celebrated rodeo athlete; their son Kyle, 25; and daughter Cassidy, 15. Although they live on a secluded desert ranch, the family balances modern conveniences with a commitment to preserving their ancestral traditions. During his time on the reservation, Morgan will reside in a Hogan, work at a tire shop, and endure a demanding sweat lodge experience as part of a "Coyote Ceremony." He will confront the economic struggles and societal issues that often accompany reservation life, challenging many prevalent stereotypes about Native Americans.
