Next, they venture to a castle steeped in darker history. At the Bathory Ruins of Cachtice Castle, they visit the burial site of the notorious serial killer, Elizabeth Bathory. Dubbed the Bloody Countess, she is believed to have tortured and murdered over 600 young women, evading justice thanks to her noble status. Though she died in the castle in 1614, her unsettling presence continues to haunt visitors, especially women.
