Episode Overview
Following a devastating playoff loss, professional basketball player Rick Stoner spirals into despair, especially after being reprimanded by his perfectionist father, Frank. Burdened by the legacy of his late brother, a celebrated athlete who died in Vietnam, Rick feels the weight of constant comparison. Overwhelmed, he contemplates suicide by jumping from his hotel balcony. Thankfully, Peter intervenes and eventually assists in mending the rift between Rick and Frank. Meanwhile, widowed Ellie and widower Carter bond as they sort through the belongings of their deceased spouses from a tragic plane crash. Just as their connection deepens, they uncover a shocking secret: Ellie's husband and Carter's wife had been clandestine lovers. Christine advises Ellie to pause on moving in with Carter until they've navigated their shared grief and loneliness.
