Episode Overview
Marion Thorne, an actress, is filming at a hotel for a project directed by her longtime partner, Daniel Kingsford. When Daniel leaves unexpectedly, young screenwriter Tom Jordan pursues Marion, proposing marriage despite her impending blindness from a deteriorating optic nerve. Meanwhile, Christine, honored as the city's woman-of-the-year, reflects on the challenges of a political career with the help of consultant John Granger, who believes he can lead her to congressional success. Observing the film set is Anthony Sheridan, a former star now living on the streets. Bellman Dave, a film enthusiast, recognizes him and persuades director Victor Polito to give Sheridan a shot at a minor role. Although he arrives intoxicated and unruly, Sheridan later redeems himself by delivering a magnificent Shakespearean soliloquy.
