Episode Overview
Erica Atwood, a capricious heiress, begins to rethink her engagement to Chip Lansing, heir to Lansing Chemicals, as her family's company prepares to merge with his. Instead, she decides to wed Tony Patterson, a wildlife scientist and the son of the family’s gardener, much to her family's chagrin. Tony discovers Erica’s engagement during a disastrous dinner with the Atwoods. Initially, her pragmatic sister Isabel disapproves of Tony but eventually falls for him. Meanwhile, Elizabeth attempts to seduce Peter's banker for access to his investment file, only to face her father's scorn. After a violent incident in her apartment, Elizabeth struggles with her father's blame, but mediation from Peter and Christine brings a glimmer of hope for reconciliation.
