Episode Overview
Robert Matthews, a garment manufacturer who frequently visits San Francisco, is embroiled in an affair with dress designer Lynn Patterson. Their secret gets disrupted when Robert's loyal wife, Gail, unexpectedly arrives. Heartbroken, Gail turns to her old friend Margaret Hudson for guidance, who encourages her to rekindle Robert's affection. Meanwhile, Lynn delivers alarming news to Robert: she has tested positive for AIDS, exposing him to the virus. If Robert tests negative, he can avoid confessing his infidelity. In another storyline, Christine discovers an abandoned infant and takes on babysitting duties while Billy searches for the mother. Having experienced abandonment herself, Christine feels a deep connection to the child and seeks to become the baby’s foster parent, causing Peter to worry she is becoming too attached.
