Louis keeps Marie-Therese locked away in the castle, believing she is plotting with Leopold against him. To further assert his power, Louis stirs up outrage by imprisoning a well-known Protestant philosopher. Meanwhile, in Paris, Fabien is set free as part of a prisoner swap, but Louis demonstrates his dominance by executing one of the exchanged prisoners to send a clear warning.
