Episode Overview

After a young woman is brutally murdered, Gary Patterson, who has an intellectual disability, admits to the crime, leading the police to believe they have closed the case. However, Gary soon recants his confession, leaving Judge Deed's courtroom with scant evidence to work with. At the same time, Deed is investigating a complex mortgage fraud worth millions, which leads him to uncover a masonic conspiracy. The fraud case is set to be heard by a fellow judge who is involved and ultimately takes his own life. When Gary is acquitted in Deed's court, the judge presses him for the real killer’s identity, and Gary reveals he witnessed the murder.
