Episode Overview

Arn, now an experienced Templar, enjoys the esteem of the grand master due to his honorable conduct towards Muslim travelers, including the disguised sultan Saladin. As Saladin's forces prepare to besiege Jerusalem, he sends a messenger to offer Arn safe passage, which Arn refuses. Demonstrating strategic brilliance, Arn anticipates the enemy's advance and sets a clever trap, temporarily forcing Saladin to retreat. Meanwhile, back home, Arn’s wife Cecilia has given birth to their son, who is taken away, and she endures a cruel regime under the Sverker abbess. There, she forms a bond with another Cecilia, who is engaged to Knut. When Knut arrives to collect her, the abbess is compelled to ensure her safe treatment.
