Episode Overview
Katie arrives home doubled over in pain, prompting Nell to rush her to the emergency room. At the hospital, Nell encounters a demanding receptionist and takes matters into her own hands to find a doctor for Katie. The doctor informs Nell that Katie had been using an IUD for birth control and reassures her that she’ll be fine. This revelation shocks both Nell and the Chief. Initially disgusted, the Chief later returns to check on Katie. He questions her about what her mother would think of her choices if she were still alive. Katie explains that they had discussed it before her mother’s passing, and she had been aware of Katie’s use of IUDs. The Chief realizes he can’t shield Katie from such decisions but reassures her of his unconditional love.
