Gimme a Break! (1981)

Episode Overview

A man with a bomb attached to him recognizes Simpson from somewhere, leading them to realize they’ve crossed paths at the singles bar. They bond over their struggles with women, particularly Simpson's crush on a female officer whom he lacks the guts to approach. In a surprising turn, the man chooses to deactivate the bomb, promising to reconnect with Simpson after serving his time. Later, Simpson admits to the Chief that he submitted a photo of the officer from the Christmas party to a magazine, which is why she was selected as a model. Displeased, the Chief rescinds his earlier praise of Simpson as a hero. Meanwhile, the Mayor of Glenlawn, facing re-election, pressures the Chief to reinstate the officer or face dismissal. Ultimately, the Chief agrees to hire her back during a live broadcast with the Mayor. Finally, Simpson gathers his courage and confesses his feelings to the officer, who agrees to go out with him.
