Gimme a Break! (1981)

Episode Overview

On the Chief's birthday, Aunt Blanche drops by and, after witnessing what appears to be an inappropriate scene between him and Nell in the kitchen, threatens to take custody of the girls. In reality, Nell was performing the Heimlich maneuver to save the Chief from choking on his sandwich. During the court proceedings, Aunt Blanche becomes emotional when Nell confronts her about her true feelings, suggesting that her desire to raise the girls stems from her prejudice against Nell being black. Ultimately, Aunt Blanche chooses to withdraw her custody suit.
