After Jep is struck by encephalitis and meningitis, his family rallies together to spruce up his and Jessica's new home during his recovery. While searching for Jep's meat smoker at a storage facility, Willie, Alan, and Phil discover that Jep has inherited Miss Kay's knack for collecting. Meanwhile, as the brothers' wives take charge of the decorating, Jase, Si, Martin, and Godwin head to an auction house, determined to find the ideal gift to celebrate the new home.
