Episode Overview

Dean Hughes invites Whitley to her home for the weekend to co-host the annual freshman tea, a gesture Whitley initially views as a privilege. However, her excitement diminishes when she learns that Freddie will be her co-host. Eager to prove herself, Whitley hopes to persuade Dean Hughes to select her as Hillman's student recruiter, but the dean doubts her capabilities. Feeling rejected, Whitley lashes out at Freddie before confiding in the dean about her lack of purpose. Dean Hughes encourages both girls to lighten up. Meanwhile, Ron allows a classmate, Earl, to stay at their place, but his constant presence and helpfulness raise suspicions. Walter warns them that Earl is a con artist, yet Mr. Gaines unexpectedly hires him as the building superintendent.
