Murdertown (2018)
S01E02 Dartford
Episode Overview
In 1993, a sixteen-year-old named Claire Tiltman is discovered gravely injured on the roadside, her assailant vanishing into the darkness. As the investigation unfolds, authorities realize Claire was well-liked with no apparent enemies, making the brutal attack inexplicable—there's neither sexual assault nor robbery involved, yet the violence is shocking. Fast forward two years, another young woman becomes a victim, and suspicions arise around local milkman Colin Ash Smith. A police search reveals his disturbing diary filled with details of past and future crimes. In his vehicle, a piece of a school tie is found, linking him to an earlier offense from seven years prior. Although he’s convicted for two assaults, justice for Claire remains elusive until advancements in forensic science finally lead to his trial over two decades later, where jurors learn of his connection to Claire, including his attendance at her funeral.
