Episode Overview

Steve Hill forms a bond with Judd, a scruffy deaf-mute portrayed by Clu Gulager, and persuades the Virginian to offer him a position at Shiloh ranch. When Judd is wrongfully accused of killing a gambler, he flees and finds refuge with Ruth Ferris, a lonely farmer played by Gail Kobe. Steve successfully tracks down Judd and urges him to surrender, then sets out to confront the actual criminals. As the murderers attempt to eliminate Steve, Judd arrives just in time to rescue him. Afterward, he returns to Ruth, having developed feelings for her.
