Betsy Garth looks into reports of wild broncos in the mountains and stumbles upon a young man named Clint and his father, Martin, who live in a secluded cabin. Clint persuades Betsy to keep their location a secret, but when she gets bitten by a rattlesnake, he has no choice but to take her to Dr. Spaulding in Medicine Bow to save her. This act earns him the Virginian's appreciation. However, Martin is a fugitive, and Emmett Ryker is hot on his trail. Betsy faces a tough decision between her growing bond with Clint and her duty to inform the authorities about their hideout.
