Episode Overview

Under pressure from French King Louis, the people of Ghent invade Marie's palace, forcing her to sign an agreement to marry Louis’ son, Charles. In a bid to escape, she sends her lady-in-waiting, Joan, to deliver her portrait to Maximilian, who becomes enamored with her image. Joan returns to Ghent bearing a letter from Maximilian, revealing his intention to visit. Meanwhile, Louis issues a warning of war against Burgundy if Marie dares to violate the terms of their agreement.
