At a press conference, Jim defends his son's innocence regarding the tragic double hit-and-run that resulted in a young girl's death and left Benny in critical condition. He insists that while Wyatt did hit someone that night, it was a man named Donald—whom Jim introduces as a paid actor. Jim claims he has reached an out-of-court settlement with Donald, portraying himself as a caring yet misguided father. Meanwhile, Hanna is unsettled by a visit from Quincy, who is on the hunt for Candace. Later at the hospital, she faces another unwanted visitor—Tony has tracked down Benny and demands that life support be withdrawn. Across town, Amanda keeps alluding to her desire to kill her parents, prompting Jeffery to voice his worries to Katheryn. In the meantime, Jim secures Wyatt's release from jail and takes him home. Candace, still trapped in the Malones' basement, is subjected to Rose's menacing threats about her fate.
