Episode Overview

Jack Crandall, an employee at H-D-L Food Products, is taken aback when the Cannonball train makes an unexpected stop for Charley and Floyd to gather apples for Kate's beloved Bachelor Butter. This delicious treat is her way of expressing gratitude to the valley's bachelors for their support throughout the year. After tasting the butter, Jack is impressed and decides to bring some jars back to his company, hoping to market it. He offers Kate $250 for the recipe, with an additional $250 once he learns the preparation process in their lab. However, translating her unique measuring techniques proves challenging for Mr. Stevens and Mr. Kimberly, resulting in failed batches. In response, Kate arranges to have her home equipment, including her oven, brought to the test kitchen, but unfortunately, the next attempt also falls short.
