Uncle Joe, excited by the cash reward, encourages Steve and Billie Jo to participate. Talent agent Sydney Sparks, who has heard their performance, expresses interest in managing them if they succeed, envisioning a future tour as a nightclub duo. The family feels torn; while they celebrate the opportunity, they dread the possibility of losing Steve and Billie Jo to the road. Billie Jo is eager to embrace the chance, while Steve is hesitant about the nomadic lifestyle. Uncle Joe thinks he might have a plan to spare them from making this tough choice.
