Episode Overview

Title: The Search Plot: After undergoing routine maintenance, 1-Adam-12 is back on patrol, but the radio malfunctions. During a robbery, Reed apprehends one suspect while Malloy chases the other through Griffith Park. Unfortunately, Malloy loses control of the vehicle, crashing down an embankment and sustaining serious injuries, including a broken leg and internal bleeding. As fellow officers begin a search for him, Malloy finds himself in a dire situation when the remaining suspect steals his shotgun and sidearm, ripping off the radio microphone. In a stroke of ingenuity, Malloy uses the exposed wires to send a distress signal, which Reed picks up, leading to his partner's rescue.
