Episode Overview
Melissa is thrilled when she lands a major photo shoot for Vanity Fair in New York. After sharing the exciting news with Hope, she has lunch with her mother, Elaine, who seems more focused on her own interests and her daughter Jill's life in the city. When Melissa arrives in New York and stays at Jill's apartment, she meets with photo editor Megan Alexander, who informs her that her assignment is to photograph the notoriously temperamental writer Brendan Norris, a task that others have declined. Just as she returns from the meeting, Jill breaks the news that their mother has suffered a broken leg. Melissa rushes back from Philadelphia to take care of Elaine, who refuses to have her husband Murray, currently away, called back home, showing little concern for her situation.
