S04E08 Never Better
Episode Overview
Ellyn hesitantly confides in her therapist that she wants to end her therapy sessions. Meanwhile, Gary is at the grocery store, playfully flirting with a charming young cashier, who might just be intrigued by him. With Susannah away, Gary has arranged for a babysitter so he and Ellyn can catch a movie together. At the theater, Ellyn spots Billy Sidel, a friend of Hope and Michael’s with whom she had a blind date. Though there's a hint of awkwardness with Gary present, Ellyn and Billy are clearly happy to reconnect. Later, when Ellyn calls Billy, she starts to leave a long-winded voicemail but he answers, and they end up chatting for hours, making plans to meet—though Ellyn wants to clarify that it's “not a date.” Meanwhile, Gary continues to flirt with the friendly cashier, Claire, as Ellyn shares her experience with Hope and Michael.
