Episode Overview

Following the death of his close friend Joe Farrell, Savage is granted leave by General Crowe. He travels by train to Inverness and then boards the Glencoe Lass to the Isle of Dunfergus. On the train, he encounters Wren officer Ann Macrae, who is also headed home on leave. Initially, they clash over several issues, but as time passes, their relationship blossoms into love. Savage discovers that Ann is battling terminal cancer and has little time left. Helpless to change her fate, he watches as she succumbs to her illness.
