Episode Overview

Savage and the Piccadilly Lily are tasked with a crucial mission to target an oil pipeline in the Säär Valley. Captain Dirksen, a Lead Bombardier, joins the operation, with Captain Walters as the backup. Since Savage's usual crew has returned home, he assembles a new team but needs to fill two waist gunner positions. He selects Waller and Maglie, despite Waller being a bombardier with impressive gunnery skills. First Lieutenant Gunther is apprehensive about flying with "Wash-out" Waller. After Savage confronts Waller about his negative mindset, it’s revealed that Waller feels slighted for washing out of flight school and only graduating as a Flight Officer. During the mission, a bomb becomes stuck, and the crew blames Waller, who oversaw loading. However, Waller later saves Gunther's life. Captain Dirksen is killed, and the plane with the alternate lead is shot down, forcing Waller to take command
