12 O'Clock High (1964)
S01E26 Mutiny at Ten Thousand Feet
Episode Overview
Major Andy Towson, a skilled pilot and commanding officer, experiences a breakdown after a tough landing. He and Savage share a long history of flying missions together, with Towson always being a steady presence. Lieutenant Kemp, Towson's co-pilot, proposes that as Savage's crew returns to the U.S., they should team up with Towson. Meanwhile, Kemp is blackmailing Phil Reese, who is actually Phil Chapman, threatening to expose a tragic incident from his past where he accidentally killed a child while drunk. Kemp wants Reese's help to hijack the plane and fly it to Switzerland. He distracts Lieutenant Patterson at the pharmacy to steal some drugs, claiming they belong to Savage. General Stoneman then orders them on a leaflet drop mission over Innsbruck. In the air, Kemp pretends that Savage has lost control, but Savage rallies the crew by warning them of court-martial and revealing Kemp's scheme. Reese steps in to help Savage, but Kemp shoots him.
