S02E17 The Slaughter Pen
Episode Overview
As the 818th attempts to bomb Hamburg, they are forced to retreat due to heavy flak and enemy fighters in a region known as the "Slaughter Pen." A new German underground radar station is tracking their movements. Back at Archbury, General Pritchard reports that all three of his Wings have been turned back. Gallagher points out that the target cannot be effectively attacked from the air and requires a ground assault instead. Pritchard invites Gallagher to clean up and join him at Brincott Hall, where he reveals it has been converted into a Combined Operations Commando School under British General St John Keighley. Pritchard informs Gallagher that SHAEF has sanctioned a commando raid, designating him to lead the mission.
