Episode Overview
Coach Tugnut is on the hunt for a new member for the track team and decides to give a shot to Louis, the younger sibling of the esteemed Donnie Stevens, whom the coach admires. Team member Larry Beale sees this as his chance to tarnish the Stevens name at Lawrence Junior High and finally outshine his rival. During the tryouts, Larry cleverly manipulates the results to ensure Louis makes the team. In practice, Larry pretends to hold back, leading Louis to believe he’s a top-notch runner. Ren, tasked with covering the upcoming track meet for the school paper, uncovers Larry's scheme. When she tries to warn Louis, he dismisses her, convinced she’s just envious of his newfound success. Ren cautions Larry about the "Stevens genes," insisting he’ll ultimately come up short. On race day, Larry trips over another competitor and falls.
