When a baby is left on Peter's doorstep, he and Assumpta find themselves awake all night. As they search for the child's mother, Peter decides to hold a 'sex talk' for the local teens, much to Father Mac's disapproval. Meanwhile, Niamh suffers a miscarriage just a few weeks into her pregnancy. Ambrose is stuck in bed after a slip in the bath, leaving Garda McMullen to take over his duties, and she proves to be quite demanding. Brian tries to bribe the new Garda to facilitate an illegal aspect of his business. Superintendent Foley admires McMullen's work but grows uneasy about the dynamics between Ambrose and Brian, planning to transfer Ambrose to a more challenging position. The situation escalates when Brian inadvertently reveals the bribery scheme to McMullen in front of Foley, leading to McMullen's reassignment.
