Episode Overview
Hilton feels wronged after his company let him go without so much as a farewell celebration, but Ruthie insists he’s overreacting. He secures a job interview in Long Island, but at the repair shop, he struggles with language barriers and learns his car is totaled. Reluctantly, he takes a senior citizens shuttle to the interview, only for it to break down, leaving him stranded for hours. Meanwhile, Hilton, with Pauline's help, prepares a magic act for a children's charity while fixating on the nonexistent farewell party. As he heads to another rehearsal at the children's center, encouraged by Ruthie, he fantasizes about a surprise party that never materializes. The final straw comes when his old company sends him a tacky pocket calendar, but Ruthie surprises him with a watch engraved with a heartfelt message honoring his dedication to their family.
