Tom's unwavering stance on honesty irritates Jane, especially since she's dressed to impress Baines, and he bluntly tells her she looks awful. His honesty also rubs Marion the wrong way, sparking a heated argument between them. Meanwhile, Sarah brings her boyfriend, Sam, into the mix, as he searches for backers for his beauty salon franchise. However, both Diana and Tom are wary, suspecting he might be a fraud. In an effort to mend things with Marion, Tom pressures Sam into allowing his daughter to operate her own beauty salon at no cost.
