As always, Frank's relentless verbal jabs get under Ginger's skin, prompting Hawkeye to cast Frank's arm while he sleeps. When Frank announces his intention to transfer over a broadcast meant for Margaret, she also decides to leave. Consequently, Colonel Blake assigns Hawkeye and Trapper to handle double post-op duty until replacements for Majors Burns and Houlihan can be found. Desperate to keep their favorite targets around and avoid the grueling extra shifts, Hawkeye and Trapper concoct a plan. That night, they feign discovery of gold, making sure Frank overhears. Convinced he's stumbled upon riches himself, Frank retracts his transfer request, only to be duped when he finds a gilded jeep among the supposed treasure.
