Episode Overview

In 1473, a young Leonardo da Vinci is immersed in his artistic education under the guidance of his mentor, Verrocchio, in Florence. As an apprentice, he delves into the intricacies of color, shading, sculpture, and altarpiece painting, with Verrocchio emphasizing the importance of self-discipline. By 1498, Leonardo finds himself in the service of the Duke and Duchess of Milan, tasked with creating a statue of the Duke's father and painting "The Last Supper" for the monks’ dining hall. Reluctantly, he also takes on a project for the Duchess, a play about celestial bodies. During rehearsals, he catches a young boy named Salai stealing from the crew. Salai reveals his dream of becoming an artist, prompting Leonardo to invite him to stay and learn to paint. As war engulfs Milan in flames, they flee, only to return to find the city transformed.
