S02E07 Joan of Arc
Episode Overview
As a child in the French countryside, Joan began hearing divine voices that instructed her to fight for France’s freedom and proclaimed that Prince Charles was destined to be crowned king. Determined, she sought an audience with Charles, but he initially dismissed her. However, the warrior Le Hire reminded him of a prophecy about a maiden who would save their nation. Skeptical, Charles disguised himself among his subjects to test Joan’s abilities. Unfazed, Joan recognized him immediately, convincing the Prince of her mission. Promoted to commander, she successfully led the French forces to victory in Orleans, causing the English to retreat. The English leader, Talbot, suspected her of witchcraft, leading to her capture. Accused of heresy, Joan was found guilty by Bishop Cauchon and sentenced to be burned at the stake. After her tragic death, La Hire and Dunois sought to carry on her legacy. The conflict continued for another twenty-two years until Joan’s people were finally liberated.
