Episode Overview
Charity Highmore-Browne, the dedicated owner and curator of Brokenwood's Historic Village, is deeply entrenched in Victorian traditions. When she is unexpectedly killed by an arrow, Mike and his team are drawn into the complexities of New Zealand's colonial history, meeting a blacksmith, a missionary, and the town's postmaster along the way. Charity's sister, a former Olympic archer who narrowly missed winning a bronze medal, also comes into play. As they investigate Charity's unusual lifestyle and the unsolved mystery surrounding her husband’s disappearance seven years prior, the team begins to suspect that Brokenwood may be facing its first serial killer. Complicating matters further, Mike must step back from the investigation due to a health issue, leaving Kristin to lead the case. Can Mike really let go of control?
