With CLS now serving a broader clientele seeking legal assistance beyond just minors, Nick takes on a case involving Malcolm Dempsy, a man with intellectual disabilities who wishes to continue living independently. Malcolm's mother is worried about his safety, especially since his neighbor and friend, Eddie, has a questionable reputation as a drug dealer. Lacking evidence, the court refuses to intervene. When Eddie is found murdered, Malcolm becomes the prime suspect, prompting Nick to delve into the drug scene to uncover the true culprit. Meanwhile, Jake faces felony charges after accidentally hitting another lawyer with his car. Concerned about the potential fallout for Fallin & Assoc., Burton worries about the firm's reputation, while Jake believes the lawyer hired to defend him is more focused on the firm's interests than his own. Determined to prove his innocence, Jake begins his own investigation.
