Nick Fallin becomes the advocate for 12-year-old Lesley, who urgently needs to be adopted by foster parents to qualify for a heart transplant. Laurie Solt, the social worker from Legal Services, faces challenges in finding a home due to the complexities of caring for a child with congenital heart disease. Motivated by Lesley’s resilience upon learning her current foster family can't adopt her, Nick embarks on a mission to save her life. As the search for suitable foster care seems bleak, he resolves to become her legal guardian, despite concerns from his supervisor, Alvin Masterson. Ultimately, the judge grants Nick guardianship. Meanwhile, Burton Fallin's old friend, Harry Josephs, is terminally ill and disputes the employment contract of Hopeson, Inc., which ends employment after 90 days of incapacity. As Hopeson is a key client of Fallin & Assoc., Burton grapples with the dilemma of supporting his friend while upholding his professional duties.
