Jethro believes he has fallen for Chickadee Laverne, but the Clampetts and Chickadee have differing views on what being "engaged" truly means. At the same time, Miss Jane is working to win Jethro's affections, hoping to divert him from Chickadee. As the prospect of marriage becomes more real, Jethro stumbles upon a shocking revelation about Chickadee: she is unable to cook.
