A week after Ben and Melissa discovered a stray dog, it still remains nameless, despite their attempts to find an owner. Carbo, however, is fed up with the pooch’s incessant barking and shoe-chewing, and gives his housemates an ultimatum: locate the dog's owner, or it's off to the pound. Meanwhile, the dog has taken a liking to Dave, who instinctively tries to keep his distance. Yet, the dog's nighttime howling stirs something deep within him, leading to recurring dreams of a barking dog scratching at a closed door—could this be a forgotten trauma from his childhood? In the Rafter house, Trish has been staying with Julie for a week, and Julie begs her boss Don to hire Trish. He agrees, but it backfires when Trish spends more time flirting with him than actually working.
