After Homer has the family's phone service disconnected due to unpaid calls to Rio de Janeiro, Lisa reveals that she made the calls while trying to reach out to a sponsored orphan who has gone missing. She persuades the family to journey to Brazil in search of the boy. Unfortunately, their efforts yield no results, and things take a turn for the worse when Homer is kidnapped during their stay.
